There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent area, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is accurate of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous conveniences on top of the gambling den, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 table games.
