The act of living in Zimbabwe is something of a risk at the current time, so you could envision that there would be little affinity for visiting Zimbabwe’s casinos. In fact, it appears to be operating the other way around, with the crucial economic conditions leading to a bigger ambition to bet, to try and discover a fast win, a way from the crisis.

For almost all of the people living on the tiny local wages, there are two dominant styles of wagering, the national lotto and Zimbet. Just as with practically everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lotto where the odds of hitting are unbelievably tiny, but then the winnings are also very big. It’s been said by financial experts who look at the concept that many don’t purchase a ticket with a real belief of winning. Zimbet is founded on one of the local or the English football leagues and involves predicting the results of future games.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other foot, pamper the incredibly rich of the state and travelers. Up until recently, there was a very substantial tourist business, founded on safaris and trips to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and associated crime have carved into this trade.

Among Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree Casino, which has just the slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has just one armed bandits. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the two of which contain gaming tables, slot machines and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which has video poker machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens and the previously alluded to lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there are also 2 horse racing complexes in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second city) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Since the market has shrunk by more than 40% in recent years and with the connected deprivation and violence that has cropped up, it isn’t well-known how healthy the vacationing industry which is the foundation for Zimbabwe’s casinos will do in the next few years. How many of them will be alive until things get better is simply unknown.
