There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that features a number of amenities aside from the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
