The basic lack in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense somewhat uncertain, in one way or another.

In recent years, the territory was a destination where several South Africans would vacation to be away from the extremely restrictive principles on games of chance (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Therefore, you would bank on somewhat of a flourishing industry to accommodate that tourist business.

But, maybe it is not much of a discovery. The nation is one of the poorest world wide, having been through a horrific civil war (followed by damaging floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This tends to make a country lesser of a tourist destination, as much as there is today a flourishing environment along several of the state’s stunning beaches.

It is in addition valid that regionally at least, Mozambique’s casinos have had to contend with several others in the freshly liberalized South Africa, inclusive of the famous Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are seventy-eight slot machines and video poker games, five tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, and a poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and two tables for poker and punto banco.

It is thought that over time the whole tourism business in Mozambique will build greatly. While the local languages are, clearly, African, there is as well the fraction of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the current and escalating origin of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldly phenomenon. The country is considerably cheap (evidently, as it is so poor) and as above, has some of the most outstanding beaches across the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the types of assets that make tourism representatives drool, and as the country climbs out of its current slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism grow, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer too.

While the country is doubtful to ever replenish its character as a target for partying South Africans, as there are now other options closer to home for them to relish in, the elevation of a long distance tourism business is being set-up. This would be to cater to Europeans bargaining on winter sun, as a break from the distress of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Plus, to top it off, the finest prawns (shrimp) around the world come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
